Gothic 1 Remake is an action role-playing game set in a third-person perspective within a fantasy open world. It is a remake of the 2001 game Gothic, developed by Alkimia Interactive using Unreal Engine 5. The player controls a nameless prisoner sent into the Valley of Mines, a penal colony surrounded by a magical barrier. The game features NPC routines, faction-based quest paths, and a progression system where the player starts with no skills and must learn them from trainers. Navigation is done without a minimap, and the game world is 10 to 30 percent larger than the original, with expanded chapters and additional quest content.
